In any emergency situation, you need to react fast. Here are some pointers to help you do so:

Notify the gas company immediately.

Do not allow open flames, smoking or spark-producing devices in either open or closed areas when the presence of un-ignited combustible gas is suspected.

Do not operate electrical switches or two-way radios, ring doorbells, use the telephone or start vehicles or other motorized equipment in areas where the presence of un-ignited combustible gas is suspected.

Do not prematurely extinguish flames of escaping gas that is burning.

Do not enter manholes or vaults if gas if the presence is gas is suspected.

Do encourage all unnecessary personnel and bystanders to leave the immediate area.

Do not turn on any gas valves.
