Gas Meters Or Gas Piping Exposed to Fire:

If you believe that the gas meter or inside gas piping may be endangered by fire, follow these steps:

Call the gas company immediately — we are the best equipped to shut off the gas supply.

For safety reasons, if the official in charge determines that the supply must be shut off prior to the gas company’s arrival, he/she should proceed by shutting off the gas supply at an inside or outside valve, or storage container valve, if it can be done safely.

When gas meters or piping are exposed to fire, notify the gas company so that the personnel can inspect the facility to ensure safe operation in the future.

Damaged Pipelines, Mains and Service Lines:

When pipelines, mains or service lines are damaged by excavating equipment, explosion, landslide or other forces, immediately notify the gas company. Gas company personnel will assess the extent of the damage and can take appropriate measures to ensure the area is safe.
