Dover, Delaware – John Schimkaitis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE: CPK), announced today that the Company’s Board of Directors elected Jeffrey R. Tietbohl to the position of Assistant Vice President at their May 6, 2009 meeting.
“Jeff has consistently proven to be one of Chesapeake’s key contributors and is well respected among his colleagues at Chesapeake,” said Mr. Schimkaitis. “We are excited for Jeff to be named as an officer of the Company.”
Mr. Tietbohl, who served as the Director of Natural Gas Distribution for Chesapeake Utilities’ Delaware and Maryland Divisions, joined Chesapeake in 1989. In addition to managing both divisions, he develops and executes strategic and business plans as well as the operating and capital budgets for this business unit. He also develops and implements sales and marketing programs and pursues new business opportunities that enhance the earnings of the of the business unit. Prior to this position, he served as Director of Regional Business Planning and Development for the Delmarva Natural Gas Distribution business unit since June of 2005.

Mr. Tietbohl began his employment with Chesapeake in June of 1989 as a Rate Analyst I. Since that time, he has held the positions of Rate Analyst II, Rate Analyst III, Delmarva Natural Gas Accounting Manager, Director of Regulatory Affairs and Controller of Delmarva Natural Gas. With each position, he has assumed more responsibilities within the business unit which has increased his experience and contributed to his successful track record.
Mr. Tietbohl is a graduate of Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and two daughters, Maryann and Elizabeth, in Lewes, Delaware.
