Dover, Delaware – Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE: CPK) (“Chesapeake”) announced its fourth annual Chesapeake Summer Cares Volunteer Program with more than 100 Delmarva employees and family members donating their time and energy at the Food Bank of Delaware’s Milford facility. For three days in August, employees from Chesapeake Utilities, Eastern Shore Natural Gas, Sharp Energy and the corporate office cleaned coolers, sorted donated canned goods and produce, and packed Summer Food Nutrition Program meals for kids in the community.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware to provide much needed summer meals for their Summer Nutrition program to help families on Delmarva,” said Michael P. McMasters, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. “Supporting the communities we serve and providing opportunities for our employees to get out and engage with community members is a core part of our culture. Every summer our employees look forward to volunteering for this event and making a positive impact on the lives of others.”

“The Food Bank of Delaware is proud of the strong commitment made by Chesapeake Utilities,” said Chad Robinson, Milford Branch Director for the Food Bank of Delaware. “They have made a strong corporate commitment to our mission of ending hunger in the State of Delaware.  Their employees come to their volunteer experience with a great enthusiasm and all pitch in to get the job done.  Chesapeake Utilities is a model of corporate generosity and we could not be more thankful for their efforts.”

The hard working Chesapeake team packed 4,839 summer meal packages, cleaned 15 pallets of coolers for distributing those meals and sorted and selected more than 21,500 pounds of donated canned goods, fresh produce and items collected by Food Lion and at the Delaware State Fair. Employees also distributed 100 30-lb. meal boxes plus frozen chicken quarters, cheese and honey to senior citizens.
