Dover, Delaware – John Schimkaitis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE: CPK), announced today that Matthew M. Kim has joined the Company as Controller.
Mr. Kim will oversee all business unit accounting and financial reporting processes within the Company. He will assume responsibility for the development, communication and implementation of accounting and tax policies and procedures that impact the Company. In addition, he will manage the preparation and filing of the Company’s financial reports with all federal, state and local regulatory bodies, as well as work closely with the Company’s external auditors on the annual audit. He will report directly to Beth W. Cooper, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Kim was a Vice President and Assistant Controller for The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm based in Washington, D.C., where he managed the U.S. corporate accounting team responsible for maintaining approximately 50 ledgers. In addition, he oversaw the consolidation of over 200 world-wide entities to produce the firm’s interim and annual financial statements that were distributed to partners, investors, lenders and other stakeholders. He also served as the primary liaison for the fund, tax and foreign accounting teams in regards to accounting and financial reporting matters.
Prior to joining The Carlyle Group, Mr. Kim was employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he held the position of Senior Manager. With thirteen years of accounting experience, Mr. Kim graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
