Jeffrey S. Sylvester
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Sylvester serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. In this role, he leads the Company’s financial strategy, capital allocation, investor relations, treasury, financial planning and analysis, accounting, and long-term value creation initiatives that support sustainable growth across the enterprise.
Mr. Sylvester brings more than 20 years of energy industry leadership experience, combining a strong financial foundation with extensive operational and business development expertise. Since joining Chesapeake Utilities in 2004, he has held a series of progressively responsible leadership positions spanning finance, business development, customer operations, and executive management.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Financial Officer in 2026, Mr. Sylvester served as Chief Operating Officer beginning in 2022 and as Senior Vice President since 2019. In those roles, he led the Company’s regulated and unregulated businesses across nine states, overseeing natural gas transmission and distribution operations, electric utility operations, energy infrastructure investments, and propane distribution businesses.
Mr. Sylvester previously held executive leadership roles with Black Hills Corporation, where he was Vice President of Nebraska Gas Operations. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions in finance, business development, customer care, and information technology, building expertise in corporate finance, growth strategy, operational excellence, mergers and acquisitions, and large-scale business transformation initiatives.
Mr. Sylvester began his career in financial analysis and controllership roles and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Business Administration from Clemson University. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in evaluating growth opportunities, integrating acquisitions, supporting capital investment strategies, and driving operational and financial performance across diverse energy businesses.
Mr. Sylvester is a member of the American Gas Association, Southern Gas Association, and Florida Natural Gas Association. He also serves on the Southern Gas Association’s Pipeline Safety Council.
