Senior Vice President, Strategic Development

Mike Cassel serves as senior vice president of strategic development for Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, where he leads the Company’s business development, external affairs, commercial strategy and broader strategic initiatives across its nine‑state service territory.

Since joining Chesapeake Utilities in 2008, Mr. Cassel has advanced regulatory, legislative, commercial and public affairs initiatives that strengthen system reliability and long‑term value for the communities the Company serves. Following Chesapeake Utilities’ acquisition of Florida Public Utilities in 2010, he relocated to Florida and went on to hold leadership roles in finance, accounting and energy logistics.

Before joining Chesapeake Utilities, Mr. Cassel held leadership positions in investment banking and in the chemical, energy and natural‑resource outsourcing industries, experience that deepened his financial, analytical and commercial expertise. He is also a veteran of the United States Air Force, a background that informs his disciplined and mission‑driven leadership approach.

Mr. Cassel holds a Master of Jurisprudence in Energy Law from the University of Tulsa College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Delaware State University. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Natural Gas Association and is an active member of the American Gas Association’s Policy Council, contributing insight on regulatory policy, infrastructure, and energy‑market development.
