Dover, Delaware — Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE: CPK) (“Chesapeake Utilities”) announced today, the recipients of scholarship awards through its Aspiring Scholars Program.  Ten children of Company employees have been selected to receive $1,500 each in scholarship funds toward their study at an accredited college, university or post-secondary education technical school.

“We value our employees and their families. We recognize the challenges of paying for higher education and want to help support our employees and their children in reaching their goals and turning aspirations into reality,” said Michael P. McMasters, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. “Through this program, we have the opportunity to personally connect with our employees and their children and see firsthand the positive impact this makes on their lives. We look forward to continuing to grow this program each year and helping our employees’ children reach their goals.”

Since 2012, the Chesapeake Aspiring Scholars Program has recognized graduating high school seniors who are the children of Chesapeake employees and who have been accepted into a full-time degree or certificate program at an accredited college, university or technical school for the upcoming academic year. An appointed Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of Chesapeake employees makes scholarship recommendations based on each applicant’s academic record, extracurricular accomplishments, student essays, leadership qualities, work experience, citizenship, community involvement and letters of recommendation. These recommendations are then reviewed and finalized by Chesapeake’s President and Chief Executive Officer and the Senior Vice President of Strategic Development. The process is completely confidential.

“Our scholarship recipients exhibited academic excellence, hard work and talent while actively contributing to their communities,” said Elaine Bittner, Senior Vice President of Strategic Development. “As these remarkable students prepare for the next phase of their educational careers, we look forward to helping them as they embark on their next journey. I wish each of our Aspiring Scholars great success!”
