Project Overview

Eastern Shore invested $14.1 million to install a new state-of-the-art natural gas driven compressor unit at its existing Bridgeville, Delaware, compressor station. This new unit will facilitate the provision of an additional 7,300 dts of firm natural gas transportation pipeline capacity to Chesapeake Utilities-Delaware Division (CUC-DE), one of our natural gas distribution utilities, under a 20-year service agreement. CUC-DE requires the additional capacity to meet residential end-user growth and to meet demand throughout Delaware. The project was placed into service in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Advancing our vision of delivering energy that contributes to a more sustainable future:

This project was designed to increase pipeline capacity to meet growing natural gas demand in Delaware, furthering our commitment to providing an affordable, reliable, environmentally friendly energy source by delivering energy that makes life better for the people and communities we serve.
By installing the additional compressor unit within an existing building at an existing compressor site owned by Eastern Shore, landowner, community and environmental impacts were minimized and the use of existing infrastructure was maximized.
No clearing of trees or shrubs occured because of the project, and it will not affect wetlands, waterbodies, threatened or endangered species, fisheries, cultural resources, socioeconomics, geology, land use or visual resources.
